Land Activities

Relaxing in the sand, hiking, beach walks, boat tours, and more await you in Chacala.

Near Alta Vista there is a petroglyph site which is a fascinating insight into pre-hispanic Mexico. Thousands of petroglyphs were created more than 2,000 years ago by the Tecoxquines, believed to be part of their religious experience.

On a jungle boat ride in La Tovara (an hour from Chacala) you can enter the mangroves by boat. Over the course of your two-hour ride, you’ll see snakes, birds, and crocodiles! Plus, a swimming area and restaurant nearby make the experience even better.

In addition to hiking the bays neighboring Chacala, you can hike the ancient crater created by the eruptions of an extinct volcano. Picturesque plant life flourishes as it grows from the fertile soil developed by the volcano.
